Monday September 25, 2023
A Town Board meeting of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on Monday September 25, 2023 at the Marion Municipal Room.
Supervisor Bender called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm with a roll call done by Kimberly Williams, Deputy Clerk of the Board.

Ronald Lonneville, Councilman
Michael Cramer, Councilman
Julie Herman, Councilwoman

IN PERSON ATTENDANCE: Jeff Cragg, Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator; Caryn Devlin, Historian; Margi Taber; John Lonneville; Jacob DeVey; Rachel Mattison; Debbie Mattison; Connor Camp; Wyatt Russell, Michael Wickett; Gracie Evans
Supervisor Bender asked everyone to stand and give the Pledge of Allegiance.

Town Business:
The Marion Town Board continued their budget discussion. Councilman Cramer and Councilman Bliek will be meeting with the Highway Department Union Representative on Tuesday, September 26th to discuss the Highway contract. Councilwoman Herman stated she is collecting a list of names for community volunteers interested in participating on a Youth Recreation Committee. The Town is hoping to coordinate with the Marion Central School District to acquire grants for summer programs.
Councilman Lonneville thanked Account Clerk, Kathy Cauwels for all her help coordinating the painting of the Town Hall. The outdoor awnings will be installed next. Bids are coming in for the repair of the back side of the Marion Court Building. The American Legion received their long-anticipated Army Tank on Saturday September 23rd. The Fall Tractor Pulls were also held on September 23rd at the Marion Town Park. New this year were the lawn mower races held on Sunday September 24th. The Town Board is pleased to see this growing sport in our community.
Supervisor Bender stated that Town Assessor, Dawn VanPatten will be speaking at an upcoming Town Board meeting in October.

ADOPTED: Ayes: 5 Bender, Bliek, Lonneville, Cramer, Herman

WHEREAS, the Marion Town Board has received and audited the following claims: now
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized to pay said claims upon receipt of the signed abstracts of audited claims from the Town Clerk.

Additional Citizens Comments:
While the Town Board was in their budget discussion, the need for court interpreters was mentioned. John Lonneville recommended Cyracom International for professional interpreter services. This company is used by the University of Rochester and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
With no further business, on a motion by Councilwoman Herman and seconded by Councilman Cramer, Supervisor Bender closed the meeting at 6:58 pm.
