TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Marion Court Room
Monday, January 27, 2025
A Town Board meeting of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on Monday, January 25, 2025 at the Marion Town Court Room.
Supervisor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30pm and asked the Clerk of the Board to give a roll call.

Supervisor Johnson asked everyone to stand and give the Pledge of Allegiance.

Citizen Comments:
Resident who lives on Eddy Ridge Road spoke regarding a water charge on her Town & County tax bill.
Resolutions:
- Authorization to Create and Form a “Town of Marion Bicentennial Committee” for the Term of 2025, and Ending December 31st, 2026

Resolution #120-2025 Authorization to Create and Form a “Town of Marion Bicentennial Committee” for the Term of 2025, and Ending December 31st, 2026
On a motion by Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Cramer

The following resolution was approved.
BE IT RESOLVED, the Town Board approves the authorization to create and form a “Town of Marion Bicentennial Committee” for the term of 2025, and ending December 31st, 2026. The intention of this committee is to plan, promote and execute events, materials, offerings, showings, displays (both temporary and permanent) as it relates to the celebration of Marion’s 200th year celebration; and
BE IT RESOLVED, the committee will be made up of 9 individuals and no less than 5; including the Town’s Historian. A notice will be published locally for a calling of committee members. One current Town Board member may sit on the “Bicentennial Committee”; and
The committee must approve a Chair and Secretary for the committee; and
The committee must provide meeting minutes and a quarterly report once formed and;
The committee must meet at least once a quarter and may use any town facility to hold their meetings; and
The committee is considered an “arm” of local government, and therefore must practice in an “open” meeting (Open Meeting Law) with advanced notice for meeting dates; and
The formed committee must by law adhere to all State and Local laws, including the Town of Marion’s procurement policy when making purchases; and
The Town of Marion Historian is responsible for signing all related spending request, keep records of spending and create any necessary vouchers; and
The Town Board reserves the right to make final funding determinations over the procurement policy threshold; and
The Town Board Historian Committee Chair will act as/ongoing liaison between Historian and committee and report to the Board with issues that may arise; and
The Town Board reserves the authority to modify, alter or update these rules and restrictions at any time, and or dissolve the committee, if determined necessary, throughout the term herein; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to the Town Historian and all Department Heads.
Resolution #121-2025 Authorization for the Town Clerk to Post the Seasonal Caretaking Positions for the Cemetery

The following resolution was approved.
BE IT RESOLVED, the Town Board approves the authorization for the Town Clerk to post the seasonal caretaking positions for the cemetery; and
The Town of Marion has three (3) part-time seasonal positions for cemetery caretaking support; and
The rate of pay is $15.50 to be expensed from account 1.088101.01.000.255; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to the Principle Account Clerk.
Resolution #122-2025 Payment of Claims
On a motion by Councilman Cramer and seconded by Councilwoman Herman

The following resolution was approved.
WHEREAS, the Marion Town Board has received and audited the following claims; now
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized to pay said claims upon receipt of the signed abstracts of audited claims from the Town Clerk.

This resolution was tabled until the February 10, 2025 meeting.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board did duly audit the cash books of the following departments of the Town of Marion on Monday, January 27, 2025:
Marion Town Clerk
Park Rentals
Water Receiving Clerk
Sewer Receiving Clerk
Cemetery Clerk
Additional Citizen Comments:
One resident spoke regarding the Marion Historic Association.
With no further business, on a motion by Councilwoman Herman and seconded by Councilman Cramer, Supervisor Johnson closed the meeting at 7:18pm.
