Monday, June 5, 2023
A Special Town Board meeting of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Marion Municipal Room.
Supervisor Bender called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm with a roll call done by Heidi Levan, Clerk of the Board.

Michael Cramer, Councilman
Jolene Bender, Supervisor
Absent:
IN PERSON ATTENDANCE: Sarah Levin, NYS Division of Cemeteries; Michael Cateau, NYS Division of Cemeteries; Cynthia Craig, NYS Division of Cemeteries; Bruce Ameele, Marion Cemetery Association; Norma Ameele, Marion Cemetery Association; Paul Bender, Marion Cemetery Association; James Miller, Marion Cemetery Association; Bobby Freeland, Marion Cemetery Association.
The Marion Town Board met with the NYS Division of Cemeteries to discuss the possibility of the Marion Cemetery Association turning the Marion Cemetery over to the Town of Marion. The Marion Cemetery Association can either do what is called an Abandonment OR a Conveyance of the Cemetery. Either comes with different rules and guidelines. Abandonment takes approximately a year to complete. Conveyance takes a few weeks.
The Town Board is strongly leaning towards a Conveyance but have many questions for the Town Attorney. Supervisor Bender will reach out to the Attorney and ask that he attends an upcoming Board meeting.

With no further business, on a motion by Councilwoman Herman and seconded by Councilman Cramer, Supervisor Bender closed the meeting at 7:30pm.
